I’m Dr. Adam Byrd, the veterinarian at Sabine River Veterinary Clinic in Gladewater, TX.

I was born and raised here in Gladewater, spending my early years on my family’s small cattle farm. Working with animals on the farm and being active in FFA during high school—eventually serving as president of the Texas State FFA chapter—set the foundation for my lifelong passion for animals.

It was always clear to me that I wanted to become a veterinarian. I’ve always loved animals, and with a strong interest in science and math, veterinary medicine was the perfect fit.

After graduating from Oklahoma State University’s veterinary program in 2011, I practiced in Tyler for three years. I then started my own mobile large animal practice, working with cattle, horses, pigs, goats, and more, for nearly a decade.

Even during those years, I dreamed of opening a full-service small animal clinic in my hometown, where I could provide comprehensive care for East Texas pets and their families.

While operating my mobile practice, I built a reputation for hard work, honesty, and personalized care, which I consider the basics of good service. People appreciated it, and through word of mouth, the practice grew beyond what I’d imagined.

In January 2024, my wife Elizabeth and I opened Sabine River Veterinary Clinic in Gladewater, TX. This is truly a family-run clinic. I’m the veterinarian, and Elizabeth manages the office and serves as the welcoming face at reception. We designed the clinic to reflect the care we provide to our own pets, with a focus on building strong relationships with families in our community.

It’s an honor to provide veterinary care for the people and pets of Gladewater and East Texas.

I’m also proud to serve as a veterinarian in the United States Army Reserves. Working with military police dogs and horses, especially during my deployment overseas, has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career.
